Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) has launched Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) as a nation-wide Campaign for achieving universal accessibility for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
Under Accessible India Campaign 2015, Government of India, put its focus on Transportation System Accessibility and targeted accessibility in Public transport System.
Govt Targets Enhancing the proportion of accessible Public Transport by Ensuring that 25% of Government owned public transport carriers in the country are converted into fully accessible carriers by March 2019.
