The government of Telangana has issued orders on enhancing the quantum of pension to the eligible pensioners covered under various categories under the Aasara scheme. The enhancement will come into effect from July 2023.

The Aasara scheme is a social security pension scheme that provides financial assistance to the elderly, widows, weavers, toddy tappers, persons with HIV-AIDS, beedi workers, single women, and filariasis affected persons.

Under the revised scheme, the monthly pension for Specially Abled Persons will be increased from Rs. 3,016 to Rs. 4,016. This is a significant increase of 33%.
