Heenaben Patel from Vadodara, Gujarat, is a mother whose personal journey has grown into a powerful story of service, compassion, and impact. What began as a life shaped by her daughter’s disability has today become a mission that is transforming lives of hundreds of families through Niramaya Scheme awareness and Project HITARTH.
Her daughter, Helly, was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and 90% disability, requiring full-time care and constant attention. For Heenaben, life became a daily commitment of caregiving—helping with every basic need, from feeding and bathing to mobility and routine care. Yet, within these challenges, she never lost hope. Instead, she found purpose.
From Learning for Her Child to Lighting the Way for Others
While caring for her daughter, Heenaben took her first steps into understanding the Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme. What started as an effort to support her own child soon became a deep learning journey. She handled registrations, documentation, claim filing, and follow-ups entirely on her own.
Over time, she became highly familiar with the system—what documents are needed, how claims move forward, and where families often struggle or get delayed. But she also noticed something important: many parents were unaware of the scheme or found the process too complex to navigate alone. That realization changed everything. Instead of limiting her knowledge to her own family, Heenaben chose to extend it to others.
A Platform That Turned Compassion into Impact: VOSAP & Project HITARTH
In 2024, Heenaben joined Project HITARTH with VOSAP as a HITARTH Sahayak, marking a turning point in her journey from caregiver to community enabler.
Today, she supports families of children with disabilities by guiding them through every step of the Niramaya process, from registration to claim settlement. She helps parents with paperwork, documentation, email communication, and continuous follow-ups, ensuring that no family is left behind due to lack of awareness or procedural difficulties. Her support is not limited to processes alone. She also builds confidence among parents, helping them understand that they are not alone in navigating systems meant to support their children
Creating Real Impact on the Ground
Heenaben’s consistent efforts have led to measurable and meaningful impact in Vadodara:
- 247+ families supported under Project HITARTH
- 295+ Niramaya claims successfully processed in 2025–26
- ₹14,60,000+ in claim settlements facilitated in 2025–26
- 8–10 years of hands-on experience in Niramaya scheme support
Behind every number is a family that received timely support, a child who accessed benefits, and a parent who felt guided instead of lost.
A Journey Driven by Love and Purpose
Heenaben often says that her daughter is her greatest strength and inspiration. What began as a mother’s responsibility has evolved into a mission that uplifts many others walking similar paths. Her story reflects a simple but powerful truth: when personal struggle is transformed into service, it can create lasting change in society. Today, Heenaben Patel stands as a dedicated HITARTH Sahayak with VOSAP, empowering families, strengthening awareness of the Niramaya Scheme, and bringing dignity and access to those who need it most. Her journey continues to inspire one message:
When you turn your pain into purpose, you don’t just change your life—you change many others
