Ankurit Karmakar, a 9th Grade teenager of Rowland’s Memorial High School from Assam’s Karimganj district, has successfully designed a sensor-enabled smart shoe for the visually impaired.
“I made this smart shoe for blind people. If there is an obstacle in the way of a blind person, then the sensor of the shoe will detect the obstacle and the buzzer will give an alert. When the buzzer will ring, the visually impaired person will be able to hear it and he can become alert and act accordingly to avoid the obstacle,” said Ankurit
Some interesting features of the shoes are:
- Cost – efficient
- Easy to affix
- Detect any object in the range of 5 meters
Ankurit aspires to become scientist and create things that can help other people. This invention is also supported by the Government of Assam who have decided to extend him all the necessary help.
It is so inspiring to see the young minds making move towards creating better society. Voice of SAP wishes Ankurit very best for his future.
