From Vision 2020 to Vision 2047 for Divyangjan: The transformative journey of past 10 years of Empowering Specially Abled People (Divyangjan) received tremendous support during my recent India visit.

With the divine blessings of thousands of VOSAP beneficiaries and persistent efforts of volunteers, the growing transformative impact at the grass root level led to my momentous meeting with Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi Ji, at the PM residence in Delhi on Jan 13, 2025. This meeting symbolized the culmination of years of dedication to the empowerment of Divyangjan and strategizing for the truly ambitious future.

I am personally blessed and deeply honored to have known the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji since 1988. What started as a trusted relationship since then has now evolved into an impactful collaboration for transforming India’s disability sector. It began with Vision 2020 that myself and Usha presented in January 2014, which helped establish key frameworks, building blocks, legislative measures, and massive awareness with Accessible India Campaign, laying the foundation for the empowerment of the Divyangjan community and fostering their economic inclusion.

In this meeting, I presented Vision 2047 for Divyangjan to the Honorable Prime Minister, which sets an ambitious goal of achieving a $1 trillion economic contribution from the disability sector in Viksit Bharat by 2047. This BOLD and BIG vision is not just aspirational but very much within reach, thanks to the robust data that we have and unwavering leadership support to implement the policy recommendations.

This meeting, with the keen interest and engaging conversation with PM Modi, has paved the way for actionable steps with PMO team in subsequent meeting that will bring Vision 2047 to life. Like Vision 2020, which catalyzed transformative change, Vision 2047 represents an even more audacious goal — the economic empowerment of millions of Divyangjan (Specially Abled People).

The way the Honorable Prime Minister held my hand at the end of the meeting was truly special — it felt like a partnership, a shared commitment to transforming the disability sector and building a better future. Certainly, I feel a deep sense of responsibility after this meeting, knowing the weight of the transformation we are striving for in the disability sector. With such unwavering leadership support and the vision of a Viksit Bharat, we are poised for a future where every Divyangjan thrives.
