Give To Gain, Accelerating Action for Gender Equality

On Sunday, March 8, 2026, the world unites to celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women on International Women’s Day. This year’s powerful theme, “Give To Gain,” reminds us of a simple yet transformative truth: when we give opportunities, resources, dignity, and inclusion to women,  society gains progress, prosperity, and purpose.

At Voice of Specially Abled People, this belief is not just a slogan. It is a movement in action, especially for women and girls with disabilities who are often left at the intersection of gender and disability discrimination.

Empowering Blind Girls Through Digital Inclusion

Education is the foundation of empowerment. VOSAP has enabled the education of blind girls at Lion’s School, Baroda by equipping them with smartphones, opening doors to digital learning, communication, and independence.

For these girls, a smartphone is not just a device. It is:

  • A classroom without walls
  • A bridge to knowledge
  • A tool for confidence
  • A symbol of inclusion

When we give access, we gain leaders of tomorrow.

Supporting Mothers of Children with Intellectual Disabilities

Behind every child with intellectual disability stands a mother fighting silent battles with extraordinary strength. Through structured empowerment initiatives such as Project Hitarth, VOSAP supports mothers like Heenaben who stepped forward not only to care for her own child but also to serve others as a Hitarth Sahayak.

This is “Give To Gain” in action:

  • Give a mother support
  • Gain a community caregiver
  • Give empowerment
  • Gain leadership

VOSAP also encourages women aspiring to become social workers, nurturing leadership within the disability ecosystem.

Emma’s Story: Giving Voice Through Sign Language

Emma grew up as a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA). Instead of seeing silence as a barrier, she transformed it into strength. Today, she is a sign language interpreter, bridging communication gaps and empowering the deaf community.

Her journey proves: When we give inclusion, we gain connection. When we give accessibility, we gain understanding.

From Kolhapur, Aasama Niyaz Swar’s journey is one of extraordinary courage.

  • A fearless single mother
  • A 60% specially abled woman (born without her left hand)
  • A determined entrepreneur building a better future for her two daughters

After her husband went missing, Aasama faced life’s toughest challenges alone. She ran a small home shop and dreamed of starting a tailoring business but lacked the resources. VOSAP stepped in and provided her with a sewing machine. Today, Aasama:

  • Earns ₹300–₹400 daily
  • Provides for her daughters with dignity
  • Plans to expand her tailoring business
  • Aspires to inspire other specially abled women

She is not just surviving, she is thriving with independence and pride. When we give tools, we gain entrepreneurs. When we give belief, we gain transformation.

Celebrating the Women Who Carry the Mission Forward

On International Women’s Day 2026, VOSAP proudly celebrates the women advancing inclusion across India and globally. We honor Usha Ji, Jaynaben, Sneha, Himashi, Aarti, Arpitha, Yamini, Neha, and Chandniben whose dedication strengthens grassroots impact every day. We salute our lead volunteers:  Hemaji, Vaibhaviji, Shaliniji, Manisha Ji, and Monika Ji,  whose leadership accelerates inclusion worldwide.

They embody “Give To Gain”: Giving time, Giving compassion, Giving leadership and gaining global impact.

A Global Inspiration: Karen Darke

VOSAP is proud to be inspired by its Brand Ambassador, Karen Darke, a Paralympic gold medalist and global symbol of resilience. Her journey reminds us: Disability does not limit ambition, societal barriers do. Through advocacy and example, she amplifies a powerful truth: Inclusion is not charity, it is justice.

Give To Gain: A Call to Action

International Women’s Day 2026 is not just about celebration. It is about acceleration. To truly achieve gender equality, we must:

  • Give education to girls with disabilities
  • Give economic opportunities to specially abled women
  • Give support systems to mothers and caregivers
  • Give platforms to women leaders
  • Give accessibility to every space

Because when women with disabilities rise, families rise. When families rise, communities rise. When communities rise, nations rise. This March 8, 2026, let us move from awareness to action. Let us not just celebrate women, Let us invest in them. Empower them. Enable them. Because when we Give To Gain, we don’t just change individual lives, we transform the world.
