VOSAP at ‘Sugamya Bharat’ App Launch: India

On Dec 3 2015, VOSAP Proposed “Accessible India Campaign” to Government of India, worked together, and assisted in launching the mission across nation by H’ble Prime Minister of India. VOSAP continues to support the Accessible India initiative through VOSAP mobile application. VOSAP marked its presence at the launch of ‘Sugamya Bharat’ app and showed its support yet again for the success of this initiative.

 

On March 2,2021, The Union Minister for Social justice and Empowerment, Shri Thawarchand Gehlotji, launched the “Sugamya Bharat App” and “Access – The Photo Digest” in the virtual mode in presence of Shri Rattan Lal Kataria, Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Smt. Shakuntala D. Gamlin, Secretary, DEPwD and Smt. Tarika Roy, JS, DEPwD. On the occasion, video messages by experts; namely-Shri Pranav Desai, Founder, Voice of Specially Abled People, USA; Shri Santosh Kumar Rungta, General Secretary, National Federation of the Blind; Shri A.S. Narayanan, President, National Association of Deaf and Shri Arman Ali, Executive Director, National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People were also presented.

 

Sugamya Bharat app is part of the Indian ministry’s efforts to ensure a barrier free environment in government and other buildings as well as transport systems. The Sugamya Bharat app would allow public participation in such issues faced by not just the differently abled but also pregnant women, children, and those who are temporarily disabled owing to illness, surgery etc.
