VOSAP (Voice of Specially Abled People) has partnered with Joy of Helping, a US-based non-profit, to equip Alpha Palliative Care’s Link Centres in Kuttanad and Thiruvalla, Kerala. VOSAP is funding 100% of the new physiotherapy centre, and the assistive devices for palliative care patients are donated through the same project. Together they serve elderly and specially abled patients, many of them bedridden with debilitating conditions and living in economic hardship.

A new physiotherapy centre, fully funded by VOSAP

VOSAP is Fully funding the equipments at Alpha Palliative Care, including all the essential physiotherapy and rehabilitation devices it needs. From elderly to  patients recovering from stroke and neurological conditions, this means rehabilitation support close to home.

Care that comes to the patient

Alpha Palliative Care’s Link Centres in Kuttanad and Thiruvalla serve hundreds of patients living with cancer, stroke, neurological disorders, disabilities and age-related conditions. Many come from economically disadvantaged families.

For a bedridden patient, comfort and dignity depend on simple but essential equipment. Without a wheelchair, a patient may never sit up or be taken out for a bath. Without the right bed, caregivers must turn a patient every two hours to prevent pressure sores, often at great cost to their own health. Many families cannot afford this equipment. This project puts it within reach.

What the project provides

VOSAP’s support covers both palliative care and rehabilitation. The following devices are donated:

  •       Hospital beds for bed-bound patients
  •       Wheelchairs and mobility aids for everyday movement
  •       Commode chairs and patient care accessories for safe, dignified daily care
  •       Rehabilitation equipment for stroke and neurological recovery
  •       Motorized Tilt Table and Gait Trainer for the new physiotherapy centre
  •       Clinical assessment and physiotherapy tools for the new physiotherapy centre

Who benefits

  •       250+ palliative care patients every year
  •       100+ physiotherapy and rehabilitation patients
  •       Hundreds of caregivers, the families who look after bedridden loved ones
  •       Elderly and disabled members of the wider community

“A person who is suffering should not also be denied access to tools that can help. By donating these devices, VOSAP is proud to stand with Joy of Helping. Every bed, Mobility solution and rehabilitation device gives a patient, and the family caring for them, a little more freedom and hope.”

— Pranav Desai, Founder, Voice of Specially Abled People (VOSAP)
