The social justice department has constructed a divisional level 300-bed residential school for the students with different disabilities that is likely to be inaugurated in the next couple of months.

Ahead of inaugurating the facility that is meant to provide free education and stay for the students classified into three categories – visually impaired, deaf/mute, and handicapped, the social justice department’s principal secretary Sachin Sinha, accompanied with Indore joint director Suchita Tirkey Beck, on Thursday visited the spot and took stock the arrangements being made for the inmates and staff.

“Presently, we have a 100-beds residential school in Pardeshipura for the students with aforesaid disabilities that will be shifted in three new buildings of 100-beds each developed in Rau” Beck said, adding that it cost around Rs 19 crore in the construction while the land was allotted by the district administration.

“We have approached the state government to sanction a fund of around Rs 1.8 crore to purchase furniture,” she said.

The joint director added that Indore social justice department has a trained and certified staff including teachers to take classes of visually impaired, deaf/mute, and handicapped students, who will attend classes and reside in the newly-developed three different buildings in the same campus.

“On this campus, the students in the categories will be given admission from Class-I to Class-XII in MP Board along with offering BCA graduation course to the deaf/mute students” she said.

“The new campus, which has a big open space to be utilized as a playground and for other purposes, is ready while the furniture installation is expected in the next around one month for inauguration” she said while talking to media.

“It’s a divisional level residential school facility, in which, the children from the financial-weaker section in aforesaid categories can apply and get admission for complete schooling” the senior official said.
